Botanical purity
100% British-grown lavender. No blending with imported oils. No undeclared cultivar substitution. No solvent residues.
The British Standard
The British Standard is the only certification scheme dedicated exclusively to UK-grown lavender. It is awarded annually, audited independently, and underwritten by the BLGA's not-for-profit standards committee.
What the Mark certifies
100% British-grown lavender. No blending with imported oils. No undeclared cultivar substitution. No solvent residues.
Every bottle is traceable, by lot number, to the field rows it was cut from and the still it was distilled in.
Linalool / linalyl acetate ratios within the published British Standard envelope, verified by independent GC-MS analysis.
The Process
From application to award, a typical certification cycle runs over a single growing season.
The farm submits cultivar inventory, planting records, and the past two seasons' harvest data. The standards committee reviews against eligibility.
A two-day field inspection: nursery stock provenance, equipment sanitation regime, soil pathology screen, and field-edge buffer compliance.
On-site review of the still house, distillation SOPs, batch records, and operator competence. Required for any farm bottling under the Mark.
Independent gas chromatography / mass spectrometry of the season's batches against the British Standard reference signature.
On a pass, the farm is awarded the Mark for that season and entered into the public British Standard registry with full traceability metadata.
The Quality Mark
Every Mark issued is registered against the farm, the season, the field, the still, and the GC-MS report. The buyer scans, the registry answers — instantly and on the public record.
